Meet Maureen Gustafson, Community Bank President

Maureen Gustafson recently joined the INTRUST team in Junction City. Though she’s new to the bank, she’s no stranger to Junction City. Read on to learn more about Maureen, her background and some of her hobbies.

Where are you from?

I was born in Munich, Germany. My father was in the military and we moved four times during the first eight years of my life. When we moved to Fort Riley, we settled in Junction City and I’ve been here ever since.

Q: Tell us about your family.

My husband Richard and I both grew up in Junction City and have been married for almost 37 years. We live in rural Geary County, where my husband farms and we have a Hereford cow/calf operation. We have two sons, Lee and Logan; two daughters-in-law, Bria and Emily; and three grandkids, Kaidyn, Ella and Brody. Our grandkids love taking up as much of our time as they can get.

Q: What is your banking experience?

August of this year marks my 40th year in banking. I’ve worked my way up starting as a secretary/teller to the position of Executive VP at what was First State Bank of Junction City. In 2006, I decided to join the then startup of Millennium Bank, helped charter the bank in January 2007 and was President and CEO until it was acquired by INTRUST. Now I’m blessed to lead the Junction City INTRUST team.

Q: Why did you choose to make Junction City your home?

Junction City has always been home for me. I grew up here, developed strong roots in the community and married a fifth generation farmer, which kept us in the area.

Q: What do you like most about the Junction City community?

The resiliency and pride that’s in the community.

Q: How do you spend your time outside of work?

I serve as Chair for the Metropolitan Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals and work with the Junction City Chamber of Commerce. I’m also an active member of the Kiwanis Club and at my church. I enjoy reading and helping my husband on the farm, but my greatest joy is spending time with my grandkids.
